Just want to share something with you all, if that’s all right It’s something rather special to me

As many of you may know, “Believe” was inspired by the students of Outram Secondary School, when I was teaching there The students there have always had a special place in my heart

I wrote the musical and the songs there. The very first staging of “Believe” was done with the students and teachers of Outram Secondary School. So much of the history of “Believe” is within the walls of the school, and in the lives of its teachers and students

A few days ago (Monday), the school show team and I had the good opportunity to return to Outram Secondary School to do a school show I arrived early, and was pleasantly surprised that the aunty and uncle at the canteen’s coffee stall still remember me

I ordered my cup of coffee (the uncle still remembers that I take it light on sweet!) and sat down at the table. A flurry of memories came back to me, and I saw myself talking with my students in the morning, where I would have my breakfast, and they’d gather, and we’d talk about anything under the sun

How I miss those days

We had our performance later that day, and when we’re back at the canteen selling tickets, I suddenly realised how very very blessed I am, that I am able, after 4 years since “Believe” came to be, to stage it again, and on top of that, have 4 of my students from Outram Secondary School participate in it

In fact, I am blessed that I am surrounded by my students in this production Blessed because they have chosen to give of their time, energy and effort towards what is very much my dream I can only hope that what they see and learn during the production more than compensate for what they have put it

As we packed up to leave, I took one last look at the school, and realised that I have never left it; it was and is always in my heart

A full circle moment… what a life!

Gosh, things are heating up by the week!

It seemed like a lifetime ago when we started rehearsing for “Believe”, but here we are, three weeks down to show!! What a buzz

Everyone’s really upbeat and excited; rehearsals have taken a life of it’s own I must say it’s quite a sight to see everything come together

And to make things even more exciting, our ZoCards have arrived!!! So if you are out and about, and you see our lovely ZoCards, do grab one, grab a stranger and tell them (and everyone else!) to come  and support the youth musical of the year, “Believe”!!!

Do keep us in prayer as we continue to prepare for the show… we need everyone’s support and encouragement, prayers and jia yous!!!

Even better news!!

Thanks to all the big hearted people who came forward to support our “Believe” Angels Sponsorship Programme, we have ran out of $38 tickets to the matinee show!! Praise the Lord!

We are therefore opening up the $48 ticket category for sponsorship next As per our sponsorship programme, our kind sponsors will receive a 10% discount (each sponsored ticket = $43.20) and each sponsored student will receive our exclusive Student Pack and the “Believe” original soundtrack CD

Boy, do I have exciting news!!!

By now, you know that “Believe” is all about the youths, right? The positive transformation of teen lives through the message of love, hope and affirmation

It is our vision that as many of our youths come to watch our shows, and experience the life-changing story of “Believe”

The thing is… while we were out promoting our shows at schools, we realise that there is a lot of poverty happening in Singapore (really!) And because of that, many of the youths who saw our school shows and really wanting to watch the full version are not able to…

So I got to thinking: how can I help these youths get to our shows?

And eureka! How does God execute miracles? Very often, through ANGELS

That is the reason why we have started our “Believe” Angels Sponsorship Programme

The programme invites generous and kind-hearted individuals to purchase tickets on behalf of these under-privileged youths, so that they may come and watch the musical on July 10th

And to make the deal so much sweeter to our sponsors, we will give them a 10% discount on the ticket price (currently, the $38 tickets are reserved for sponsorship, so each sponsored ticket is $34.20… with sufficient demand, we’ll open up the other categories!), we will give each sponsored ticket holder an exclusive “Believe” Student Pack, filled with interesting information, and we will also throw in a copy of our fantastic soundtrack CD!!!

All these so that we can bless our youths

My apologies for the long silence It has been crazy wild on this side of “Believe” land!

We’ve completed our cycle of school shows (till end May!)… and we are so thankful to Zhenghua Secondary, Bedok South Secondary, Woodlands Secondary, Marsiling Secondary, Christ Church Secondary and Ahmad Ibrahim Primary schools for having us, and giving us the opportunity to spread the message of love, hope and affirmation in “Believe”

Everyone in the production is working (very very) hard as we ride towards our show day The excitement is rising, especially now that we are doing full run rehearsals

Oh, and our soundtrack is out (finally!) We’re in discussion with HMV and Gramophone regarding distribution, but for those of you who want an advance copy, please email hello@exousia-productions.com or call Alvin @ 9641-7950

It’s a terrific honour to be working with some of the finest people I know; young, passionate, and deeply committed individuals who share a love for the stage!

This will be the third staging of “Believe” and it is indeed a very challenging task! It will be bigger and better than before, as it will be staged at The Republic Cultural Centre Theatre! We are all looking forward to a wonderful production!

Vocal rehearsals are already underway. I’m also doing a short script re-write and preparing all the necessary material for the cast and crew!

This time around, I’m very grateful to have an in-house webmaster, Yue Tong, to manage all things digital, as well as a dedicated photographer, Zhongxing, who will be taking lots of pictures for us Also on-board is my good friend, Jimmy, from Rye Media, who is in charge of filming the production process of “Believe” as well as the shows themselves

Exciting times are ahead! So check back often to find out the latest happenings in the world of “Believe”!
